I made this seven part relief after providing the moulded stone cornices for an extension of the Playhouse in Alnwick, Northumberland. A new spiral stair to the first floor theatre entrance had been created (just visible through the glass).
The text is one I read at school from Shakepeare's As You Like It spoken by the rather cynical Jacques, but here given a positive and contemporary spin.
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages...
